Effects

Climate change, including global warming, is caused by pollution, due to excessive amount of CFCs (chloroflurocarbon), CO2 (carbon dioxide), CH4 (methane) , and many other green house gases. Here are some ways humans are causing pollutions that are leading to climate change:

+ Industrial production : many factories don't filter their waste gases before releasing them into the environment, causing air and water pollution.
+ Amalgam : This method of collecting gold includes pouring mercury in to an area with small gold fragments. When the gold reacts with mercury, they form a hard, shiny alloy called amalgam. After that, the extractor will pickup the amalgam pieces and bring them to the lab to extract gold from the substances. The remained mercury will pollute the water and make it poisonous to both living creatures under the water and humans.
+ Vehicles : Too much waste products emitting from transporting vehicles are causing huge problems for the environments. According to a LIVETRONG article [1] ,"Cars release approximately 333 million tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually, which is 20 percent of the world's total."

The consequences of pollution is CLIMATE CHANGE. These are some effects that we are facing:

+ Rising CO2 level: According to NASA [2]: Carbon dioxide level is at its highest in 650,000 years. This is a greenhouse gas, meaning it is causing the greenhouse effect to become more serious.

+ Rising temperature: Since 2001, 16/17 warmest years of the history occurred. That means every year is the hottest year.

+ Melting ice: In 2012, the Arctic Ice shrank to the minimum size ever recorded. The Arctic Ocean is predicted to be ice free during mid-century

+ Natural disaster: Directly or indirectly intensifies natural disasters (wildfire, flood, drought, and storm).

According to Indy100 [3] ,"World leaders signed a groundbreaking pledge in Paris this weekend which saw 190 countries across the globe agree to reduce global warming by less than 2C compared to pre-industrial levels. While we can only hope our leaders keep to their word, there are also many ways in which we as individuals can help to reduce the human causes of global warming - did you know that an estimated 42 per cent of Britain's carbon emissions are caused by the actions of individuals?" Another sources, The Pew Research Center, [4] up to 54% of people world wide believe that climate change is a serious problem.
These 2 articles show that our individual conscious about preventing and stopping climate change is very high, but not so many people have proceeded to make changes in their actions. Therefore, we need to be more responsible about our planet and start taking part in making the situation better.
