You are a member of a team who wants to be School President(s) in the next school year. Why do you think you and your team would be a great School President? Think about why young people come to school - how can you help them succeed? What plans and policies would you put into place?
- Where do you stand on homework?
- Where do you stand on ASAs?
- Where do you stand on the cafeteria options?
- Where do you stand on swearing in school?
- Where do you stand on ensuring teaching quality is high?
- Where do you stand on phones in class?
These are just some issues that schools face? Where do you stand on them? What other issues are you passionate about? What would you do about them?
You will run an election campaign promoting you and your team to be the next School President. To reach as many people as possible, you will create a website to help you!
Start by organising a meeting with your team. Think about what issues are important to you and how you would deal with the issues if you were School President. This can be done in a quiet place with a pen and paper - be ready to communicate your ideas and listen to others. Remember: there is no such thing as a bad idea so don't be afraid to voice yours!
Once you have some ideas about what you and your team stand for, decide what content needs to be displayed on the website. What pages will your website have? Who will be responsible for designing each page? Where will you put your campaign video? Where will you put images of you and/or your team? How can you create something cool and eye-catching that will inspire students in our school?
Be creative!
Having a clear, engaging message is more important than over-engineering your design.
Stay Organised - Team Folder
- create a project folder to store all of your team's web page files in. Create an images subfolder for your images. You may want to create other subfolders as necessary. This will be the master project folder. At the end of the project, one of you you will upload it to Google Drive and share it with your teacher and your team mates.
Stay Organised - Personal Folder
- create your own personal project folder to store all of your files in. This must include all of your html/css work and any content development project files eg a Photoshop file, Illustrator file, iMovie file etc. At the end of the project period you will upload this to Google Drive and share it with your teacher.
